EMMAC Terre marine combines dance, puppetry and theatre. Conceived by multidisciplinary artist Emmanuelle Calvé, the show is inspired by the Innuit tale The Skeleton Woman, taken from the book by Clarissa Pinkola Estés titled Women Who Run with the Wolves. The tale tells of the transformation of a young woman who is thrown into the ocean by her father and brought back to the surface years later by a fisherman. The tale’s metaphorical content thus raises important and sensitive questions concerning the natural cycle of life and death. With its magical and visually poetic character, EMMAC Terre marine is steeped in the choreographer’s own cultural references, and it presents the unusual relationships between the movement of the puppet-bodies and those of dance-theatre. In the hands of a seasoned team of artists and designers, the inner landscapes  and seas of EMMAC Terre marine sparkle, holding a mirror up to the challenges and savage beauties of existence.

For adult and adolescent audiences.

Exhibition of drawings by Emmanuelle Calvé. See the works that inspired the show at the Théâtre Rouge hall.

A few moments of beauty in a world that really needs it, a few minutes of poetry to forget the sterile brouhaha: EMMAC Terre marine is a show that is good for the soul.
“A treasure exists only if someone is looking for it.”
[Richard Desjardins stated in the show.] Look no further, it’s there.
