What remains of the friendships that have shaped us? What words were never spoken, what letters were never sent? Onde invites a small group of spectators to follow an intimate journey where memories and confidences pass from one voice to another.
Created through an alliance between three companies (Voyageurs Immobiles, Cie de création + Wundertruppe + Massy EmondCette), this sound-based, promenade performance offers a timeless space for a small group of people to pause and lend an ear to stories of friendship that intertwine and unfold, sometimes even leading to separation or death.
The audience moves between various spaces for exchange: letters that were never read will be read, words that were never spoken will be spoken, and everyone will be invited to the table for an old reunion.
Inspired by Virginia Woolf’s novel The Waves, the work weaves together testimonies from friends of all ages, gathered in Canada, France and Italy. Like the tides, these stories reveal the impulses, distances, loyalties and ruptures that shape great friendships. Guided by performer-guides, participants navigate between their own memories and those of others, allowing stories to emerge that resonate long after the journey.

Since 1982, Danse-Cité has contributed to the evolution of dance and contemporary creation practices by supporting artists in research, creation, production and/or presentation. Since 2021, Danse-Cité has been developing an audio description hub for dance, a practice that previously did not exist in Montréal, to provide French-speaking blind and partially sighted audiences with adapted access to dance, performance and circus productions.
