Call for dance artists: Cultural mediation project
Fri Dec 12, 2025

Laboratoire des sensorialités multiples: Cultural mediation project between dance artists and blind or semi-sighted people.

Danse-Cité is looking for 2 dance artists for a unique cultural mediation project bringing together artists and people living with partial or total blindness.

Conceived as a research and creation laboratory, the project brings together 3 dance artists and 8 blind or partially-sighted people. Together, the participants will take part in 3 intensive 2-day blocks and a final round table open to the public. Each block will explore a theme linked to multisensoriality, for example: touch, space, materials and accessories, sound and voice, etc.

Blind and partially sighted individuals will take an active part as sensory consultants in the activities of exploration, creation, and dialogue. Their feedback, observations, and perceptions will directly contribute to the development of new artistic approaches tailored to non-visual perception.

For the artists, the project will offer an opportunity to deepen their practice and develop adapted creative tools. They will be invited to experiment with new ways of sharing their work with audiences who have diverse sensory experiences.

The process will open up new ways of sharing through dance, while fostering a true space for knowledge exchange.

The project is led by artist Emile Pineault, who guides all the encounters.

Laboratoire des sensorialités multiples is part of Danse-Cité’s ongoing commitment to promoting inclusion and accessibility in the performing arts. It continues the work initiated around audio description since 2021.

This project is made possible with the financial support of the Government of Québec and the City of Montréal through the Montréal Cultural Development Agreement.
