An accomplished artist, prolific creator and cultural figure of immense generosity, Paul brings his enthusiasm and creative drive to take Danse-Cité even further.
♥︎ The Board and the team would like to extend their warmest thanks to Emmanuelle Gill-Houpert for her 4 years as Chair. Emmanuelle will continue to work alongside us as a board member.
Paul Chambers's Biography
A lighting designer, visual artist, educator and co-artistic director of the CHA collective, Paul Chambers holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Concordia University and a diploma in theatre (lighting design and set design) from John Abbott College.
Dance collaborations with the choreographers Maria Kefirova, Clara Furey, Ellen Furey, Lara Kramer, Katie Ward, Thierry Huard, Dorian Nuskind-Oder, Amanda Acorn, Catherine Lavoie-Marcus, Wynn Holmes, PME-ART, Emmanuel Jouthe, Sasha Kleinplatz, Benjamin Kamino and Parts+Labour_Danse.
In theatre, Paul has created set designs for Marie-Ève Milot, Marie Brassard, Rose Plotek, Melanie Demers, Philippe Boutin, Jill Connell, Sophie Gee, Danik McAfee and Rebecca Gibian. He has been teaching in the Dance Department at Concordia University since 2015 and has been a coach at the National Theatre School of Canada since 2018. Paul sits on the boards of Danse-Cité and the APASQ.
In 2022, Paul was awarded a Prix de la Danse de Montréal for his career in design and his vital contribution to numerous choreographic works, as well as the 2022 and 2025 METAs for outstanding lighting design in English-language theatre.
